FRONT PAGE NEWS Spanning the ocean Bound only by the love of judo and a yearn to visit the United States, 33 Germans arrived in Meade County Aug. 20, intent on making their 10-day Urlaub memorable. The group are members of Eb Kieslich’s judo club, called TSV TBB Tauberbischofsheim, which he started participating in at the age of 13.
“I have been fascinated by over 35 years of judo, but there is so much more to learn,” he said, during a welcoming ceremony which packed the courtroom of the Meade County Courthouse.
Familiar face selected as new county attorney investigator
Bosemer was hired Aug. 18 by County Attorney Margaret Matney as her investigator. Members of the Meade County Fiscal Court established a budgeted salary of $23,000, but since the funds are passed through directly to her office, the Court didn’t need to approve the hiring.
Thumbs down A large crowd filled the Meade County Courthouse Aug. 21 for the public hearing regarding a rezoning request by Meade County Quarry, LLC, for the purpose of opening a surface mine in the Big Bend area of Meade County. The current zoning is A2/agricultural, which allows for rock extraction. The applicant is requesting a rezoning to HI/heavy industrial so a crusher can be located on the site.
