Meade beats Grayson handily

In what must be an eye-opener for the region, the Meade County Greenwave basketball team whipped up on the visiting Grayson County Cougars Feb. 11. Considered to be one of the better teams within the region, Grayson County could never get untracked, and went home after losing 62-52.

Meade was on fire early. Thomas Wilson started the Greenwaves off, scoring from short range, then Braden Pace hit a three, Isaiah Satram followed with another three, and Meade had an 8-0 lead. The Greenwaves never looked back. While the Cougars mounted a small run of their own, closing the gap to 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, they never regained the lead.

Lady Waves split region matchups

With the regular season coming to a close in the next few weeks, the Meade County Lady Wave basketball team is hoping to gain some momentum that will propel them deep into the post season tournaments. During the week, Breckinridge County and Hancock County split their two games to create a three-way tie atop the district regular season standings. To break the tie, a coin toss decided the seedings for the district tournament. The Lady Waves lost the coin toss and received the #3 seed, while Hancock received the #2 and Breckinridge took the #1 seed. Meade will now have to beat Hancock in the first round of the district tournament to reach the finals and qualify for the regional tournament.
