Music students represent county well at Kentucky Music Educators Association’s annual conference

Musicians from throughout Kentucky converged in Louisville Feb. 4-7 for the Kentucky Music Educators Association’s (KMEA) annual professional development conference. A record number of Meade County students were among them performing as all-state musicians.

Included in the all-state choral groups were students from David T. Wilson Elementary, Ekron Elementary, Stuart Pepper Middle School and Meade County High School.

Muldraugh council approves $5 hike in city stormwater fees

A $5 hike in stormwater fees will soon make it onto resident’s bills. Currently residents pay $4 per meter for stormwater services.

Muldraugh City Council members, with member Louis Holston absent, reluctantly voted Feb. 9 to approve the hike.

The suggestion, made by Mayor Danny Joe Tate, came about in the face of state mandates to correct the city’s antiquated stormwater discharge system..

Text amendment resolution approved by Meade County Planning and Zoning

Following two public hearings during which Meade County Planning and Zoning commissioners and members of Meade County Fiscal Court heard comments both for and against Resolution IX, the commission voted to approve the resolution and send it to Fiscal Court. The resolution involves implementing a text amendment to the Meade County Planning and Zoning Ordinance as it pertains to the use of explosives within agricultural zones and the residential use of agricultural land within Meade County.

During the Feb. 10 Fiscal Court meeting, there wasn’t a report from the Planning and Zoning Commission.
