David T. Wilson Elementary School celebrated Mardi Gras Feb. 20 with a festival open to the community. The sounds of New Orleans were in the air, thanks to the UofL Jazz Band, and the school was decorated with more purple, green and gold than any Mardi Gras float you’ll ever see. About 11 sections of the ordinance were reviewed during the hour-long session, leaving the sections dealing with abatement procedures, citations and penalties for a later date. Planning and Zoning Director Charles (Tony) Coletta said the ordinance is still in a draft stage and hasn’t been released for public review. It is expected after magistrates finish deliberations, a revised ordinance will be made available. Soldiers return to school for week-long course in Iraq
Students completed 40 hours of coursework on everything from their roles and responsibilities as anti-terrorism officers and managing entry control points to performing vulnerability assessments. As anti-terrorism officers, or ATOs, they advise their commanding officers on how best to protect service members.
