‘Toy time’ at farm toy show

Everything to make a child’s – and adult’s heart – go pitter-patter could be found at the Farm Bureau Community Building this weekend.

The annual farm tractor toy show and sale drew a record number of vendors and a good steady crowd throughout the two-day event, show coordinator Melody Dodson said.

“We had a lot of fun and a lot of people,” Lincoln Trail Antique Power of the Past Inc. President Edd Pike said.

A flash from the past

Mark Popham, Payneville, Gary Fackler, Midway, and Rudy Woosley, Caneyville, along with several others, plowed a hayfield in Payneville the “old-fashioned” way March 7. In a 4- or 5-acre field owned by Marty Webb, Payneville, they steered their mules up and down, turning up large rows of sod. It was a slow-going process.

Engineering firm unveils new revised Riverport drawings

The first redesign of the proposed Riverport concept was unveiled to authority members during their March 3 meeting by representatives of Garver Engineers.

The Owensboro-based firm said the last time they presented plans, several months ago, they focused on the river aspect of the port, but these drawings reflect the overall project.

Representative Chris Wilburn reviewed each drawing. They included an aerial view of the project, with silos and other projects seen as overlays.

Wilburn has initially proposed two storage bins on site, capable of holding 125,000 bushels of grain each, but said the area could accommodate an additional two bins.
