Sheriff’s Department, Meade County sued for racial discrimination
Thomas R. Young, a former officer with the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, filed a federal employment discrimination case May 14 in the US District Court,Western District of Kentucky. The suit names the Meade County Sheriff’s Department, Sheriff William Kerrick individually and in his official capacity, and Meade County as defendents in the case.
Young, who is black, alleges racial discrimination and disparate treatment from fellow white officers which he says caused him to resign.

River Heritage Festival 2009
With temperatures in the low 70s, gray skies and the threat of rain looming overhead, the River Heritage Festival took place Sept. 26, at Riverfront Park. The annual event is sponsored by Meade County Museum and Arts Council (MCMAC).
Kicking-off the festival was the 5K Run/Walk in which approximately 150 men, women and children participated.
