Bennie Skaggs is just the kind of hero Veterans Day was meant for. The Guston native and World War II infantryman was honored Nov. 7, during Vine Grove’s annual Veterans Day parade. Maj. Gen. James M. Milano, commander U.S. Army Armor Center, presented the 85-year-old 3rd Infantry Division veteran with the prestigious French Legion of Honor.

Regional Economy not booming, not busting either

Dr. Tom Garrett told bankers and other representatives the way it was during an economic forum Nov. 3. Garrett, the assistant vice president of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, said it wasn’t a boom time, but neither was it a bust time in the region.
