Three-alarm blaze consumes Flaherty residence

Firefighters from Flaherty – with mutual assistance provided by Meade County and Muldraugh fire departments – battled a mobile home fire Jan. 27. The fire totally destroyed the 560 Hobbs Reesor Road residence, Flaherty Fire Chief Alan Sipes said. He said the residents, the William Maddox family, lost everything they had in the fire and the American Red Cross was called to assist them. The fire’s cause is still under investigation, Sipes said. He reminded area residents to review their heating and electrical connections this time of year, especially with the onslaught of cold weather.

Military, Muldraugh prove to be a perfect fit for sergeant

 

Three tours of duty overseas have prepared Muldraugh Police Sgt. Scottie Bennett, 26, for his present job. “I have been policing since I was 23,” the Paducah native and now Meade County resident, said.

Relay for Life kickoff held at Home Plate Restaurant

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life kickoff was held Jan. 26, at the Home Plate Restaurant in Brandenburg. Approximately 20 attendees enjoyed a catered meal as Russell Schuman, director of the ACS, went over the agenda for the meeting.
