Archaeologists, public mark third anniversary
Several address club Feb. 6

A weakling snowstorm could have wiped out the third anniversary celebration for the Meade County Archaeological Society – much as it did one year ago – but the membership and guests faithfully made their way to the Meade County Public Library annex – snow or no snow – Feb. 6.

MCAS President Gerry Fischer opened the event by informing members there might be a possible name change for the organization, to more reflect the means of the group. Currently, according to Fischer, the membership is divided between genealogists, historians and archaeologists, with a name change expected to more accurately reflect the membership’s basis.

Relay for Life kickoff held at Home Plate Restaurant

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life kickoff was held Jan. 26, at the Home Plate Restaurant in Brandenburg. Approximately 20 attendees enjoyed a catered meal as Russell Schuman, director of the ACS, went over the agenda for the meeting.
