Balloting goes smoothly in county, clerk’s office says

A total of 6,065 voters – or 37 percent of the county’s registered 17,626 voters, cast their ballots in the off-year primary election, setting the stage for the November general election.

Local Memorial Day events planned

Meade County residents will pause to remember the nation’s servicemen and women May 31 during area ceremonies. The traditional Memorial Day is May 30, which this year falls on a Sunday, but it was changed by Congress to give residents and government employees a three-day holiday.

Meade County Farm Bureau to provide county’s health insurance

For weeks, members of the Fiscal Court have been poring over spreadsheets and comparing the options of four health insurance plans for county employees. The Kentucky Association of Counties (KACO) – Frankfort; Insurance Specialists in Bowling Green; and Greer Insurance and Farm Bureau, both in Brandenburg – all proposed bids for the health insurance contract worth $736,491.12.
