KY 313 road project update:


Despite a period of limbo for many transportation projects caused by the state’s budget impasse during the last legislative session, progress on the KY 313 road project continues largely on schedule, according to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Mark Brown, largely because it falls under Fort Knox Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) funding.

Pastor Barnes’ defense files change of venue, other court motions

Marion Barnes, former pastor of the Glad Tidings Christian Center in Brandenburg, appeared in court with his lawyer Sept. 23 – to request a hearing for the court to hear several motions. Barnes was originally arrested Feb. 15, on five counts of sexual abuse against a minor – two counts in the 3rd degree and three counts in the 1st degree.

Public input is sought on Otter Creek Park

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources launched an online survey to gain public input as it plans for future uses of the Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area in Meade County. The survey will remain open until Oct. 15.

Library board given update on new facility construction

“Once they get the foundation laid, the walls will start going up very fast,” Kenny Stanfield of Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects told the Meade County Public Library Board Sept. 26.

Applications being taken for Angel Tree

The Meade County Clothes Closet will take applications for the Angel Tree, starting Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. Applications will be taken between the hours of 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weekdays and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
