Gov. Beshear recognizes area veterans at Fort Knox It’s not every day that soldiers get to meet high-ranking politicians, but a large group of Fort Knox soldiers had a special treat when Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear came to the installation Nov. 10 for an early Veterans Day commemoration. Votes recanvassed in 27th District race; outcome the same with Greer on top The Meade County Clerk’s Office held a recanvassing of votes Nov. 12, for the 27th District election of state representative. The race between incumbent, Jeff Greer, and challenger, Dalton Jantzen, was separated by only 128 votes. Christmas by the River to light up Nov. 27 It’s that time of year again! It’s time to get prepared for Brandenburg’s annual Christmas by the River festivities. Opening day for the gala event is Nov. 27 and the Christmas by the River committee has been working hard to ensure the daylong festival on the Ohio River is a success. Those interested in any aspect of the event – from entertaining and vending to volunteering your time to make it a success – should call Amy at Brandenburg City Hall. The number is (270) 422-4981. The day opens at noon with craft vendors, food vendors and entertainment in place until 6 p.m. The actual light-up and visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus are planned to start at 6 p.m.
