Get Moving, Meade County The wrap-up program for “Get Moving, Meade County” was held at the Extension office on Nov. 23. The “Get Moving” program is a joint effort of the Extension office and the health department to promote physical activity. There were 48 participants this year – some competed as individuals and some in teams of four people. The teams and individuals kept track of their minutes of physical activity for eight weeks. The individual and the members of the winning team each received a gift certificate for a 30-minute massage for all their hard work. All participants received a weekly newsletter and a T-shirt. The winning individual was Trish Givans and the winning team was the Meade County Hotties (Brenda Heslep, Vickie Embrey, Judy Miller and Betty Cecil).
“Artist of the Month” selected Martha J. Hollenbach was selected as “Artist of the Month” by the Central Kentucky Art Guild at their Nov. 15 meeting. Her painting is entitled, “Vishnu & Shiva” and is of the Grand Canyon. She stated “If you want to do a painting of the Grand Canyon, just grab a big piece of paper and start drawing.” The CKAG meets each month (except January and February) on the third Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Nolin RECC building. The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 20. Visitors are welcome.
Meade County High School Class of 1985 marks 25 years Doe Run Inn was the setting Nov. 6, for the 25-year reunion of the Meade County High School Class of 1985. A total of 252 members graduated in the class, and 61 attended the event to renew friendships.
