Sony Pictures has excited Beatles fans worldwide with the announcement of four major actors joining the cast of Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopics. Each film will focus on one of the Beatles, featuring their relationships with these influential women.
Oscar-nominated Saoirse Ronan is slated to bring Linda McCartney to life, while Anna Sawai will portray Yoko Ono, bringing a fresh perspective to these well-known figures. Aimee Lou Wood and Mia McKenna-Bruce will play Patti Harrison and Maureen Starkey, respectively, completing the ensemble of powerful women behind the music legends.
Director Sam Mendes expressed his enthusiasm, “Securing such talented actresses to represent these remarkable women is thrilling. Each brings a unique depth that will undoubtedly add to the richness of the films.”
The films will not only explore the personal relationships but also delve into the cultural and historical impacts of the Beatles through the eyes of John, Paul, George, and Ringo, portrayed by Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan, respectively.

An exciting detail for Beatles enthusiasts is the simultaneous release of all four films in April 2028, a bold move that could change how biographical narratives are consumed. However, the specifics of the release strategy remain under wraps.
The biopics, collectively titled “The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event,” are being developed under Mendes’ Neal Street banner with producers Pippa Harris, Julie Pastor, and Alexandra Derbyshire. They promise an in-depth look into the lives of the Beatles, backed by full cooperation from the musicians’ estates.
The announcement also hinted at future casting for other significant figures like Cynthia Lennon and Brian Epstein, indicating that the films will feature a comprehensive portrayal of the Beatles’ world.
Each actress brings a significant track record: Ronan, acclaimed for her roles in multiple award-winning films; Sawai, known for her powerful performance in “Shogun”; Wood, who gained attention from her role in “The White Lotus”; and McKenna-Bruce, recognized for her work in “How to Have Sex.” Their collective involvement is generating high expectations for the depth and quality of the portrayals in these much-anticipated films.
From the early days at the Cavern Club to global superstardom, the biopics aim to provide a fresh look at the personal stories behind the music that defined a generation. The Beatles’ story, now retold from the perspectives of those closest to them, continues to resonate and inspire new audiences.
