China Initiates Major Military Exercises Around Taiwan
China has commenced a significant military exercise around Taiwan, mobilizing naval, air, and missile forces, according to an army spokesperson. The operation, named “Mission of Justice 2025,” is set to take place in the Taiwan Strait and in areas to the north, southwest, southeast, and east of Taiwan.

The exercises are designed as a stern warning to what China describes as “separatist forces.” The deployment includes destroyers, frigates, fighter jets, bombers, and drones. Chinese forces plan to approach Taiwan from multiple directions, coming very close to the island.
Immediate Reactions and Wider Implications
In response, Taiwan has reported the sighting of four Chinese coast guard vessels off its northern and eastern shores. The democratically governed island has dispatched larger ships and support units to the concerned areas promptly.
China’s actions come shortly after the U.S. approved a massive $11 billion arms sale to Taiwan, one of the largest such packages to the island. Following this, China declared it would take “resolute and powerful measures” to defend its territorial integrity.
Planned Shooting Drills in Five Zones Starting Tuesday
The Chinese military has also announced that starting Tuesday, live-fire drills will be conducted in five designated zones surrounding Taiwan. They have advised all unrelated ships and aircraft to steer clear of these areas.
Taiwan Condemns China’s Military Movements
Taiwan has sharply criticized the renewed Chinese military activities as a “disregard for international norms,” accusing China of using military intimidation to threaten neighboring countries. Over the years, the People’s Republic of China has conducted several large-scale military exercises around the island. China views Taiwan as part of its territory, which it aims to reunify with the mainland, even if it requires military force.
The tensions in the region continue to escalate, reflecting the complex and strained relations between China, Taiwan, and the involvement of international powers such as the United States. The situation remains a delicate issue in international diplomacy, with significant implications for regional security and global geopolitical dynamics.
