Rock enthusiasts and cinema-goers alike have reason to celebrate as Bleecker Street’s Crosswalk division secures the North American rights to “Long Live Def Leppard”. This marks the first authorized documentary about the iconic metal band, promising a deep dive into their storied career. Slated for an early 2027 theatrical release, the film follows Crosswalk's recent success with "Hadestown: The Musical," which set new records in the live capture cinema genre.

The man behind the lens, Jeff Feuerzeig, brings a rich background in documentary filmmaking with notable works like “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” and “Author: The JT LeRoy Story”. His personal connection to Def Leppard, sparked by a 1981 concert experience, has culminated in this comprehensive portrayal of the band. Feuerzeig not only directs but also writes and produces the documentary, collaborating closely with the band members to ensure an authentic narrative.

The documentary promises to chart the highs and lows of Def Leppard’s journey from their humble beginnings in Sheffield to international fame. It doesn’t shy away from the band’s tumultuous times, including the tragic accident that led drummer Rick Allen to lose his arm and the untimely death of guitarist Steve Clark. Despite these hardships, Def Leppard’s resilience has seen them continue to captivate massive audiences worldwide, with over 110 million albums sold and a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Nugent from Sobey Road Entertainment. The deal was brokered by Avy Eschenasy representing Crosswalk and Kevin Iwashina of Audiovisuel acting on behalf of the filmmakers.

As anticipation builds, both long-time fans and newcomers to the saga of Def Leppard can look forward to a riveting exploration of the band’s legacy, underscored by an intimate look at their personal and professional challenges. This documentary not only celebrates their musical achievements but also showcases their significant cultural impact over the decades.
