Excitement Builds as “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come” Sets Release Date

Horror enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The suspense-packed sequel to the 2019 breakout hit “Ready or Not” is slated to arrive in theaters on April 10, 2026. Fans of the original can look forward to the return of Samara Weaving, who reprises her role as Grace, the bride who narrowly escaped her deadly in-laws in a lethal game of hide-and-seek. The upcoming film, aptly titled “Ready or Not 2: Here I Come,” promises to deliver another thrilling installment under the banner of Searchlight Pictures.

Star-Studded Cast and Creative Minds

With the return of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from the filmmaking group Radio Silence, the sequel is set to captivate audiences once more. They’re not alone; joining Weaving is a stellar lineup including Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, and Elijah Wood. Notably, acclaimed director and actor David Cronenberg will also make an appearance, adding a touch of his unique flair to the film.

The script, penned by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, remains shrouded in mystery, heightening anticipation. Production kicked off on April 21, 2025, with producers Tripp Vinson, James Vanderbilt, Bradley J. Fischer, and William Sherak steering the project.

Technical Team Reassembled

Bringing their expertise back to the fold are several key below-the-line craftspeople who helped shape the film’s unique aesthetic. Production designer Andrew Stearn, director of photography Brett Jutkiewicz, costume designer Avery Plewes, and makeup head Colin Penman are all on board. New additions include editor Jay Prychidny, hair department head Ryan Reed, and sound mixer Thomas Hayek, promising to enhance the sequel’s creative depth.

A Look Back and Ahead

“Ready or Not” debuted in August 2019 and was a financial success, grossing $57.6 million worldwide against a modest budget of $6 million. Its fresh blend of dark comedy and horror earned comparisons to films like “Clue” and “The Purge” from critics at IndieWire. The choice of an April release for the sequel strategically places it just before the summer blockbuster season, aiming to capture audiences with its unique mix of thrills and chills.

Since directing the first “Ready or Not,” Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett have expanded their horror repertoire with projects like the “Scream” reboot and its sequels, as well as the vampire horror comedy “Abigail.” Their return to “Ready or Not 2” is eagerly awaited by fans eager to see how they’ve honed their craft in the intervening years.

The allure of “Ready or Not 2” lies not only in its continuation of a beloved story but also in the reunion of its original creative team and the introduction of new talent. As the release date approaches, both new and returning fans are buzzing with excitement, ready to dive back into the deadly games orchestrated by the sinister Le Domas family.
