Fourth annual Women’s Expo Oct. 29

When Brandenburg resident Donna Reed began her Creative Memories Scrapbooking business, she began looking for ways to increase awareness and patronage of her business. Thus was born the idea of a women’s expo, a way for Reed and other like-minded women to showcase their businesses and a venue for women to avail themselves of goods and services of particular interest to them. Donkeyball a double-fun fundraiser

On Oct. 15, the Greenwave basketball team opened their year in unusual fashion by holding a fundraiser called Donkeyball. The event, which pitted a student, faculty and two community teams against each other in a game of basketball while riding donkeys, was held to raise money for the basketball team’s upcoming trip to Florida to compete in the Daytona Sunshine Invitational shortly after Christmas. Meade County CATS results

During a special called meeting prior to the regular monthly meeting of the Meade County Board of Education, John Millay, Peggy Darnall and Paul Poole provided to the board a review of how Meade County students performed during the Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS) tests in the spring of 2005. This is the first year in a two-year accountability cycle, so the scores from testing in spring 2006 will be combined to determine the two-year progress toward the goal of 100 by the year 2014.

Dive into the SportScene

When Tim Hatler decided it was time to make a change in his life, he began thinking seriously about an idea that had been nothing more than a thought for several years, and SportScene was born. “I wanted to do this for some time,” said Hatler, “as there’s nothing that covers youth sports.” There’s Sports Illustrated for Kids, but that’s about professional athletes written for a younger audience. SportScene, however, provides youth sports news coverage for and about kids in Kentucky. “We’re trying to cover the entire state,” said Hatler, “from little Johnny who’s playing soccer for the first time to the 19-year-old who won the Junior Bassmaster.”
