To the Messenger:

I have been in the Army for 19 years and have been stationed at Fort Knox various times during my career. I have recently bought property in Meade County. I was attracted to the area by its proximity to Fort Knox and Louisville. However I was shocked to learn about the recent controversy surrounding the abandoned property ordinance for Meade County.

On Thanksgiving Day, Americans gather with family and friends to reflect on our many blessings. As we do this, let’s all take a moment to reflect on the abundance that we enjoy, not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day. In this Information Age we live in, it is easy to forget that the safe, plentiful and affordable food that is available to us, and the materials used to produce the clothing, housing, medicines, fuels and other products that are essential to our lives, didn’t just magically appear in the store. Mail Letters to the Editor to P.O. Box 678, Brandenburg, Ky 40108; FAX to (270) 422-2110; E-mail to messenger@bbtel.com; hand deliver to 138 Broadway, Suite A, Brandenburg; or use the drop box by the front door after business hours.

Letters should be 300 words or less and concern an issue of public interest. Longer letters MAY be run at the discretion of the editorial staff or may be edited to fit.

They must be typed or printed legibly. The Messenger limits the frequency of Letters to the Editor to one per person within a 30-day period.

Letters may not contain slanderous remarks and all letters are printed at the discretion of the editor.

The writer's name, address and telephone number must be included.
We will, however, withhold the writer's name on request. A file of all letters to the editor will be kept for public inspection at the Messenger.

Submit words of thanks as paid advertisements.
