Trojans’ missed field goal seals Meade victory, 20-18
Greenwaves advance to meet John Hardin this Friday

The Greenwave Nation held its collective breath on Friday night in Radcliff.

The third-seeded Meade County football team (6-5) clung to a 20-18 lead with 25 seconds remaining in their playoff opener against district rival and second-seeded North Hardin (6-5), but the Trojans’ kicker Johnivon Oggs was preparing to attempt a potentially game-winning 35-yard field goal.

Middle school boys’ cross country team state runner-up

The Stuart Pepper Middle School cross country team competed in the KTCCCA Middle School Championships contested at Masterson Station Park in Lexington Oct. 28. The championships are in their fifth year and attracted just over 850 middle school athletes representing over 85 different schools. The athletes race over a hilly 4 kilometer (2.4 mile) course. Due to rain early in the week and cold, windy weather, the course and times were not the best. However, the conditions leveled the highly competitive fields and required the teams with the true desire to win to rise to the top.

Cross country all-stars compete at Elementary School Championships

The Meade County elementary school all-star cross country team competed in the KTCCCA Elementary School championships Oct. 28 at Masterson Station Park in Lexington. The Championships are in their fifth year and attracted just fewer than 900 elementary school athletes representing over 70 different schools. The athletes race over a hilly 3-kilometer (1.8- mile) course. Due to rain early in the week and cold, windy weather the course and times were not the best. However, the conditions show the dedication and love for competing these young athletes possess.

West Point hosts elementary track meet

On Oct. 26, West Point Independent Schools hosted their annual cross country meet, welcoming runners from other districts to the event.

Flaherty hosts elementary cross country meet

On Oct. 17, Flaherty Elementary hosted its annual elementary cross country meet. Although the course was very muddy and wet from the rain, the runners had some impressive times on the one-mile course.

The Vine Grove Gators U-8 soccer team won four straight tournament games enroute to winning the Vine Grove Soccer Scream end of season tournament.

The Fort Knox Blitz took the U-10 championship in the Vine Grove Soccer Scream end of season tournament.
