Lady Waves take first win of season

Going into their fourth game of the season, the Lady Waves were able to come away with their first win against the visiting Lady Tigers of Breckinridge County on Dec. 8.

Greenwaves make it five straight wins over Breck with 56-36 victory

With his team only up by six heading into the fourth quarter against Breckinridge County on Dec. 7 after claiming a 12-point lead at halftime, Greenwave basketball head coach Jerry Garris wanted to see his players refocus and close out the district matchup with intensity.

Greenwaves to take on Male in King of the Bluegrass

The Meade County Greenwave basketball team (4-1) will return to action on Thursday night at the King of the Bluegrass tournament in Fairdale. The Greenwaves will take on Male High School in the first round at 9 p.m.

New Greenwave wrestling team 3-3 after first two events

The Meade County wrestling team opened its inaugural season on Dec. 6 at Iroquois High School. The Greenwaves defeated Iroquois, 54-28, in the first round of the duals match, but fell to Doss in the second by a slim 41-39 margin.

Will Drury Jr. rolls 801 series at Lynn’s Pins

Will Drury Jr. picked the right night to be a sub on the Monday Night Mixed League Dec. 4 at Lynn’s Pins in Brandenburg. Starting out his night with a 248 game, he connected on the first 11 strikes of the second game, finishing with a 298. He ended with a score of 255 in the final game for his 801 actual series. He was averaging 210 as a sub on this league and after this series it will rise to 218.

Darrell Johnson rolls perfect game at Lynn’s Pins

Darrell L. Johnson, Vine Grove, bowled the second 300 game of his career Nov. 22 at Lynn’s Pins in Brandenburg. His 12 strikes came during the first game of league play on the Wednesday Night Men’s League. He finished the night with scores of 212 and 179 for a 691 series. Johnson used a Columbia 300 Jinx ball that wasn’t as much of a jinx on this night as its name might imply

Meade County archery tournament a success

113 students from all over the county participated in the archery tournament held Dec. 7. Participation doubled from last year’s in-county tournament and included students from Battletown, David T. Wilson, Ekron, Payneville, Stuart Pepper Middle School and Meade County High School.
