A CONNECT Christmas Carol

The CONNECT program of the Meade County school system identifies students in grades 4, 5 and 6 with particular talents and seeks to foster those talents. Each year, the performing and visual arts CONNECT students present “A Christmas Carol” by drawing on the talents of singers, dancers, actors, artists and musicians directed by CONNECT teacher Margie Gregoriades.

A bird’s eye view of Brandenburg Primary School

The construction of a new primary school in Brandenburg continues. It wasn’t too long ago that the only sign of activity was earth work and the drilling of geothermal wells, but walls and roof trusses are now going up, and the building is taking shape. According to Rodney Pickering of Meade County schools, work at this point is progressing on schedule.

A family tradition of giving

When Tammy Hardesty’s parents, Bill and Jeanie Basham, got her involved in the Fraternal Order of Police and its auxiliary about six years ago, she immediately became involved with the Shop with Cops program and hasn’t stopped since.

Brandenburg Moose Family Center – a year of giving

In 2006, the Brandenburg Moose Family Center donated to the following efforts in our community: Shop with Cops, MARC School, the Pumpkin Patch, Project Graduation, the Meade County Messenger’s Newspaper in Education program, Meade County girls’ softball team, Ronnie Moose for the children who need medical help from the Meade County Ambulance Service, Meade County High School band and to many individuals with illness and medication, burnout victims and families with emergency needs.

Good Samaritan honored with citation

About a month ago, Betty Morrison heard a crash while sitting in her home near the intersection of KY 1238 and KY 1638. When she went to see if she could render assistance, she was struck by another vehicle.

Record 225 take part in fourth annual Jingle Bell Trot

Cooperative weather and a yen to see the lights of Christmas By The River resulted in a record turnout for this year’s Jingle Bell Trot held Dec. 11.

Truckloads of holiday giving

Stuart Pepper Middle School students and staff donated over 1,000 items to the domestic violence shelter. It required two vehicle loads to get the items to their destination.

Meade County schools participate in STLP Showcase at WKU

On Nov. 10, Western Kentucky University hosted a Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) showcase. All of our schools attended – Meade County High School, Stuart Pepper Middle School, Flaherty Elementary, David T. Wilson Elementary, Muldraugh Elementary, Battletown Elementary, Ekron Elementary, Payneville Elementary, and James R. Allen Primary.
