Meade wins defensive battle over Apollo, 43-31

Meade County Greenwave basketball head coach Jerry Garris expected his team’s meeting with Apollo High School on Feb. 16 to be a defensive standoff, but when both teams had failed to score nearly five minutes into the game, he had to chuckle.

Meade County’s move to the 3rd Region last year has set up three thrilling games between the Greenwaves and Apollo High School, but has also created a mini-duel between team studs Riley Benock and Tyler Brown.

Stinnett powers Meade past Grayson County, 57-47

With Grayson County choosing to focus on senior Riley Benock, the Meade County Greenwaves rode an outstanding performance by junior center Nick Stinnett to a 57-47 win in Leitchfield on Feb. 13.

Seventh-grade team falls in championship, finishes at 22-2

The Stuart Pepper Middle School 7th-grade basketball team competed in the area 7th-grade championship game at North Hardin High School on Feb. 14, but fell to East Hardin Middle School, 48-43.

First-year Greenwave wrestling team competes at state tournament

The Meade County Greenwave wrestling team traveled to the state tournament Feb. 15-17 at the Frankfort Convention Center, placing seven grapplers into competition.
