Madness earn ‘Final Four’ spot in Ohio Valley Regionals!

NILES, MICH. – The Ohio Valley Regional was down to its version of the Final Four as press time approached July 28. Harris Black, Schererville, Meade County and Southeastern Lexington were set to battle it out for the right to play for the regional title with the Meade County Madness, 9-year-old all star team, facing Harris Black.

Pitcher Jacob Crase struck out six and allowed just one hit in Meade County’s win over L’anse Creuse.

Fiscal Court reverses planning action; issues zoning denial

The zoning for a proposed bookkeeping business expansion was denied by a 4-3 Fiscal Court vote July 8.

Casting dissenting votes on the zoning motion from R-1, residential to B-2 neighborhood business were Magistrates Tom Goddard, Herbie Chism and Tony Staples. They were joined by Judge Executive Harry Craycroft.

Fire district billing policy irritates Ekron resident

A car fire in the Kroger parking lot resulted in a $1,517.04 bill for an Ekron resident.

The bill was the result of 11 firefighters responding to the incident in two tankers, Meade County Fire Protection District Chief Larry Naser said
