Salt supplies may be scarce, any excess bounty isn’t shared, area leaders report

Meade County officials are sitting pretty as far as the county’s salt supply goes, but if the winter resembles the 1994 season, they might be crying in snowdrifts.

“If we have a normal winter we should be in good shape,” Meade County Judge Executive Harry Craycroft said.

“We ordered our salt earlier and we’re very fortunate we got ours a heck of a lot cheaper (than everyone else),” he continued.

Bypass update

Construction to widen the Brandenburg Bypass is expected to conclude the week of Nov. 10, weather permitting, Kentucky Department of Transportation spokesperson Becky Judson said.

Crews from Gohmann Asphalt have been working on the project which will give motorists a five-lane road with continuous left-turn lanes the entire length.

City leaders focus on new trends

LOUISVILLE — City officials learned new tricks and trends from their counterparts during the annual Kentucky League of Cities convention Oct. 16-19.

The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) is an association of 400 Kentucky cities and municipalities. The organization provides resources, advocacy and assistance to help make cities more livable.

One session focused on whether or not a city was too small for a city administrator, and judging from the commentary, they’re not.
