Local customer buys $430,000 winning
lottery ticket at River Ridge Marathon
It could be said that River Ridge Marathon customer service representative Donna Fraley has “magic fingers.”
It was her fingers that caused a local resident to win $430,000 earlier this month in the Three Line Lotto contest of the Kentucky Lottery.
“It was an instant pick,” Fraley remembered of the customer’s selection. She added the store sees a lot more quick picks than the customer’s actual randomly-selected numbers.

Twin Ridges Girl Scout Camp closure evokes some poignant memories from staff and past Girl Scout attendees
Twin Ridges Girl Scout Camp, a 40-acre parcel of pristine land, adjacent to the now-closed Otter Creek Park, offered pleasant weekend memories for countless area Girl Scouts.
But with the closure of the camp July 12, those memories have faded into the sunset.
“Twin Ridges is well-known for their ticks, but it is time for us now to honor and remember the 49-year history of this camp,” said Gina Rahai, the now-retired site team leader for the Girl Scout camp.

‘Lack of work’ leads to county employee layoff
After a one hour and 45-minute closed session July 10, the Meade County Fiscal Court laid off the county attorney’s receptionist, Jennie Simmons.
County Judge Executive Harry Craycroft said Simmons was laid off “due to lack of work,” but he couldn’t go into specifics until after he drafted a letter to her July 15.
