CGB to close; farmers are forced to look elsewhere

Consolidated Grain and Barge announced at a recent customer appreciation day for local farmers that January 31, 2020 would be the last day grain delivery would be accepted at their Brandenburg facility. CGB recently entered an agreement with Nucor Corp, the largest steel maker in America, in which CGB will close its local grain handling and barge port to make room for a new $1.3 billion steel mill that will be built there.
