Tales of Leah Smock: Was she or wasn’t she?

Shirley Brown, the great-great grand niece of Leah Smock, presented the program for the monthly Meade County Historical and Archaeological Preservation Society (MCHAPS) meeting at the Meade County History Museum on Monday, October 14. Before Shirley gave her lecture, local singer/songwriter Jim Hubler sang his original composition, The Ballad of Leah Smock. Jim is from Battletown and is very familiar with Leah’s story. He has had many songs published, and is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Guild.
