Food for Fines running until Nov. 22

Across the country, public libraries are giving patrons with outstanding fines on their accounts a chance to pay it off at a discounted rate—by donating food. Meade County’s Public Library is no exception. From now until Nov. 22, residents of Meade County can pay off their library fines by donating certain food stuffs. Each item is “worth” so much being taken off your library fine. The accepted food items and what they are worth towards your library fines are as follows: 5 oz. can of Starfish Tuna in Water for $3.50, 6 oz. box of chicken, turkey or cornbread dressing for $4, 12 oz. or 14 oz. box of macaroni and cheese for $4.50, 28 oz. box of white rice for $6.00 or a 4 lb. bag of dried beans (northern, pinto, etc.) for $7.00.
