Greenwave wrestling

The Meade County High Greenwave Wrestling team crossed the bridge to Indiana to compete in the Old Capitol Classic hosted by Central Corydon High School on Jan. 11. Coach Bob Davis likes to bring the team to this match each year due to this tournament not being like the normal wrestling duels Meade competes in. This tournament gives the wrestlers new competition that they don’t see when they wrestle in their Kentucky area tournaments. This tournament is also about individual strength. Each wrestler vies for the top spot in their weight class, even though team points are still awarded to each team from the wrestlers individual results, its all about who stands atop the podium at the end of the day. Coach Bob also says that coming here helps the wrestlers build confidence that they can do it against wrestlers they don’t know, and that helps as they get ready for Regional Duels. At the end of the tournament, the Greenwaves had all 11 wrestlers place in the top four of their respective weight divisions, with senior Eli McCune as the only Meade Wrestler to stand atop the podium for the 160lb weight division.
