A Fresh Look at the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro

When Huawei designed the Watch Fit 4 Pro, priced at nearly 280 euros, they clearly drew inspiration from the Apple Watch Ultra. The resemblance is striking, yet it’s important to note that despite its similar look, the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro doesn’t quite match up as a direct competitor in terms of smart features. However, it shines as a robust, enduring, and versatile fitness and health tracker that meets the needs of many users.

Key Attributes and Design

The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro, with its compatibility with both iPhones and Android devices, shares many features with the less expensive Watch Fit 4, but it also boasts several significant enhancements. Notably, the Pro version is more durable with its sapphire glass display and titanium alloy bezel. It’s also waterproof to IP6X standards and suitable for free diving up to 40 meters deep. Additionally, the Pro model’s display can shine brighter and it comes equipped with more sensors, including the capability to perform EKG measurements.

The Watch Fit 4 Pro exudes a high-quality feel, featuring a sleek, matte aluminum case. Despite its copied design, it looks attractive and sports a slim profile at just 9.3 mm thick and weighs about 30 g without the strap, making it comfortable to wear under tightly fitted sleeves.

Display and User Interface

The AMOLED screen of the Watch Fit 4 Pro measures 1.83 inches diagonally and offers a sharp 347 pixels per inch (ppi), displaying vibrant contrasts and colors. It is sufficiently bright, with a maximum brightness of 3000 nits, to remain visible even in direct sunlight.

Navigating the Watch Fit 4 Pro is straightforward and notably similar to Apple’s interface. Users can swipe across the touchscreen to access various app cards, swipe down for shortcuts and settings, or swipe up to view notifications. The bezel serves multiple functions, including accessing apps with a press or returning to the home screen, and a double press or rotation facilitates scrolling through lists and cards. The lower button is customizable, for instance, to start a workout quickly, and pressing it twice theoretically opens Huawei Wallet—although, the watch does not support contactless payments yet.

Fitness Features and Health Monitoring

Despite the limitation of not being able to install additional apps, the Watch Fit 4 Pro is packed with numerous fitness and health functions. It supports a variety of activities, including golf, with course maps available to aid in training. Recorded data can be analyzed through the Huawei Health App in both numerical and graphical formats.

The watch can automatically track specific workouts like running, walking, elliptical, and rowing sessions. During testing, it impressively recorded an entire rowing session even when momentarily disconnected from the smartphone.

Navigation and Connectivity

While the Watch Fit 4 Pro requires downloading maps via the app beforehand, it can guide users on foot or bike with precise location and altitude data through various satellite networks and a barometer. Offline navigation with voice prompts and vibrations is possible by creating routes through compatible apps like Komoot.

Despite its many standalone features, the watch still relies heavily on a smartphone connection, as it lacks Wi-Fi or eSIM capabilities. However, users can answer and make phone calls directly from the watch.

Advanced Health Tracking

Beyond fitness tracking, the Watch Fit 4 Pro offers extensive health monitoring options. Users can perform an EKG by placing a finger on the lower button. This function also checks for arterial stiffness and potential heart rhythm abnormalities. Blood oxygen levels can also be monitored.

The sleep analysis feature of the watch is comprehensive, tracking various sleep and wake phases and even potentially dangerous breathing interruptions during sleep. Comparisons with devices like the Apple Watch 10 and Google Pixel Watch 3 have shown the Huawei’s measurements to be accurate.

Battery Life and Data Security

One of the standout features of the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro is its battery life. Even with intensive use, the watch can last at least five days on a single charge, outperforming many competitors. In terms of data protection, users can be reassured as the overall security is satisfactory, with good protections for user accounts and data transmission.
