Samsung’s Latest Innovations in Foldable Smartphones and Smartwatches
In the bustling world of technology, Samsung has taken significant strides with the release of its seventh-generation foldable smartphones. Not to be overshadowed, the tech giant has also introduced a new version of its smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 8. These announcements come amidst speculations that Apple plans to launch its own foldable iPhone by 2026, a move that has perhaps spurred Samsung to enhance its offerings significantly.

The Enhanced Galaxy Z Fold 7
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 showcases remarkable improvements in design and functionality. This iteration features an expanded outer display, growing from 6.3 inches to 6.5 inches and adopting a wider 21:9 aspect ratio. More impressively, the inner screen has been increased from 7.6 inches to 8 inches. Despite these enhancements, the device has slimmed down significantly, measuring just 8.9 mm when folded and 4.2 mm when unfolded—shaving off thickness from its predecessor.
Samsung has not only focused on size but also on durability and performance. The Z Fold 7, now lighter by 24 grams, incorporates a more resilient hinge and a frame made from a new aluminum alloy, increasing its sturdiness by 10%. Protection is also boosted with the introduction of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the outer screen and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back. Inside, the display is fortified with a thicker glass layer and a titanium plate.
Performance-wise, the Z Fold 7 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and is available with either 12 or 16 GB of RAM. Storage options are generous, starting from 256 GB to a robust 1 TB model, ensuring that the device runs smoothly under all conditions. The camera system has been upgraded to include the main camera from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring up to 200 megapixels and a bright f/1.7 aperture, along with a 12-MP ultra-wide and a 10-MP telephoto lens.
The Sleeker Galaxy Z Flip 7
Turning to the Galaxy Z Flip 7, this model introduces a larger exterior screen that now stretches across nearly the entire surface when folded, minimized only by a slim 1.25 mm bezel. This new 4.1-inch display not only enhances the phone’s aesthetics but also its functionality, allowing for more dynamic control and customization features such as adjustable emojis and an expanded "Now Bar" for personalized information.
Like its sibling, the Z Flip 7 has seen size reductions and durability enhancements. It is slightly thinner and features upgraded protective materials like Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Internally, it boasts the Exynos 2500 chipset with 12 GB of RAM and options for 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. The camera setup remains robust, with a 50-MP main camera and a 12-MP ultra-wide camera, complemented by a 10-MP selfie camera.
An Affordable Entry: Galaxy Z Flip FE
For those looking for a more budget-friendly option, Samsung introduces the Galaxy Z Flip FE. Priced just under €1000, this model offers 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, making it an attractive entry point into the foldable phone market. While similar to the previous Galaxy Z Flip 6 in many respects, the FE version features the new Exynos 2400 chip which provides updated processing power.
The Next-Generation Galaxy Watch 8
Alongside its smartphones, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch 8, sporting a sleek design that’s 11% thinner than its predecessor. The watch boasts a display that’s 50% brighter and includes a new Exynos W W1000 chip, which not only enhances performance but also extends battery life up to 40 hours. With improved dual-GPS tracking and the ability to use Google’s AI Gemini in its LTE version, the Galaxy Watch 8 represents a significant upgrade in Samsung’s smartwatch lineup.
Samsung continues to push the boundaries of technology with these latest releases, setting high standards in the ever-evolving market of foldable devices and wearable technology. As competitors like Apple aim to enter the foldable arena, Samsung’s advancements demonstrate their commitment to innovation and their desire to remain at the forefront of the tech industry.
