Meade County Health Department welcomes Sarah Fackler

Meade County Health Department welcomes environmentalist Sarah Fackler, who joined the department in July and has taken the position formerly occupied by Paul Schultz, who retired from the health department this past summer.

Family fun night and costume contest

The Meade County Public Library and the Family Resource Center at James R. Allen Primary School held a family fun night at JRA complete with a spooky story and costume contest in preparation for Halloween.

MCHS SBDM approves formation of new service club

The school based decision making council of Meade County High School opened its regular monthly meeting Oct. 9 with a good news report from principal Bill Adams. Ava Jordan was recognized as a commended student by the National Merit Scholar organization. Adams noted the feature story on the partnership between the Messenger and the business department at MCHS and commended Jenny Hazelwood for her work on the project. Kyle Raymer finished second in the state in a recent Kentucky BASS Federation tournament.

Doing the Bulldog Strut

On Sept. 30, David T. Wilson Elementary held their annual Bulldog Strut walk-a-thon. As part of the walk-a-thon tradition, the MCHS band graciously played the National Anthem to begin the day of walking.

Breast cancer survivors ‘Race for the Cure’

Breast cancer survivors Ruthie Fackler, Joy Adams, Fay Mattingly and Beverly Morrison walked in the Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” in Louisville on Oct. 14.
