Fiscal Court conducts meeting without public session
Judge Executive William Haynes convened a full Fiscal Court Oct. 10 without benefit of a public session. Judge Haynes decided prior to the meeting to forego public session by eliminating it from the agenda. When asked for comment after the meeting as to why there was no public session, he responded it wasn’t on the agenda. When further asked why it wasn’t on the agenda, he remarked there had been a full agenda and there wasn’t time. When this reporter commented that this was the shortest regular meeting of Fiscal Court in recent memory, less then 90 minutes, Judge Haynes replied that the new Animal Control Ordinance (ACO) wasn’t debated or read, and declined further comment.
Brandenburg City Council addresses citizen’s water problem
The Oct. 9 meeting of the Brandenburg City Council opened with Mayor Ronnie Joyner welcoming visitors. Sande Brown appeared before the council with a request for reimbursement of expenses incurred as a result of discolored water entering her house from a city line. The mayor recused himself from the discussion, and Councilmember Bradley Johnston was elected to stand in for him with regard to this issue.
Meade County Ethics Commission meets; first time in almost three years
New board chair Joann Fitzgibbon chaired a working session of the Meade County Ethics Commission Oct. 8. Members present included Tim Gossett, Joe Bewley, Gloria Brady and Harold Fackler. Members Tara Powers and Lamar Jones were not present. County Attorney Darren Sipes was on hand to lend legal advice. The meeting constituted the first official meeting of the KRS-directed Ethics Commission in almost three years.
Muldraugh will review animal control ordinance
Muldraugh City Council held its monthly meeting on Oct. 9, with Mayor Danny Tate and councilmen Irvin Davis, Donnie Basham, Ron Heschke and Curtis Kelley present. Absent were Councilmembers Dean Dresel and Linda Toler.
City of Brandenburg receives $25,000 in transportation funds to resurface Howard Drive
Gov. Ernie Fletcher and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announced that $25,000 in KYTC bond funds have been awarded to the city of Brandenburg.
Meade County Board of Education approves personnel, field trips
The Meade County Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting Oct. 10. Construction fund, accounts payable and salary payrolls were approved.
