“Fittest man in the world” runs marathon in Otter Creek Park
There was a bit of history in the making on Oct. 26, when 44-year-old San Franciscan Dean Karnazes – labeled “The Fittest Man in the World” by Men’s Fitness magazine – ran “The North Face Endurance 50” marathon in Otter Creek Park.

Grim Reapers bring Christmas to Meade County Community Action
On the heels of the Grim Reapers’ fourth annual benefit toy run to provide Christmas for needy children, members of the motorcycle club delivered toys, games, stuffed animals and $1,460 in cash to Meade County Community Action Oct. 28.

Meade County High School’s Chapter 2363 of Modern Music Masters (Tri-M) held their annual banquet and recital Oct. 23 to welcome new members to the chapter and afford the opportunity for the inductees to perform for family, friends and peers. Tri-M is an honor society for music students who also excel academically.

Sixth annual St. John the Apostle golf scramble
Doe Valley Golf Course was the place to be Oct. 15. Seventeen teams participated in the sixth annual golf scramble to benefit St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Teams competed for more than $1,000 in cash and everyone took home a door prize. There was stiff competition for the lowest score with two teams posting scores of 13 under par. The team of Randy Niquette, Ken Miller, Heather Niquette, and Kayla Kincer edged out the team of Doug Reed, Eddie Sipes, Darren Sipes and Josh Thompson in a score card play off tie breaker. The team of Trent Gulley, Keith Miller, Bob Miller, and Emily Miller took top honors for low score with handicap by scoring 21 under par. The Gulley and Miller team graciously donated their winnings back to the church.
