LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the Messenger:

Today I decided to clean my clothes closet. You may say “Big Deal.” Well, I discovered something white all over my new winter wool coat. I started pulling everything out of my closet to discover a hole and the white stuff was plaster on my coat, caused by a bullet. (A picture of the bullet was enclosed in the letter.) The bullet went through the house, it came through the closet, went through my wool coat twice on the arm and then to the floor. I sleep just 4 feet from where the hole is made.

Who’s minding the store?
– And other points to ponder

Election Day 2006 is almost upon us and everyone I talk with says they will be relieved when the campaigning is behind us. The rumors, the lying, the backstabbing...it’s all been very disappointing. Most of us have had it “up to here” with prerecorded phone calls from political candidates as well as the countless times we’ve answered our phones only to be greeted with an unsolicited political survey. The army of campaign signs littering our lawns and right-of-ways cannot evaporate quickly enough.

GUIDELINES FOR LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Mail Letters to the Editor to P.O. Box 678, Brandenburg, Ky 40108; FAX to (270) 422-2110; E-mail to messenger@bbtel.com; hand deliver to 138 Broadway, Suite A, Brandenburg; or use the drop box by the front door after business hours.

Letters should be 300 words or less and concern an issue of public interest. Longer letters MAY be run at the discretion of the editorial staff or may be edited to fit.

They must be typed or printed legibly. The Messenger limits the frequency of Letters to the Editor to one per person within a 30-day period.

Letters may not contain slanderous remarks and all letters are printed at the discretion of the editor.

The writer's name, address and telephone number must be included.
We will, however, withhold the writer's name on request. A file of all letters to the editor will be kept for public inspection at the Messenger.

Submit words of thanks as paid advertisements.
