JASON LEE

Jason Lee, Brandenburg, a third-year sheet metal apprentice, competed in the Sheet Metal Workers International Training Institute Region #5 apprenticeship contest, which was held Jan. 18-21 in Gary, Ind. He placed second in the architectural division.

Campbellsville University fall 2006 academic honor’s list

Campbellsville University has named several local students to academic honor’s lists for the fall 2006 semester. To be named to the dean’s list, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours. Students achieving a 4.0 grade point average are named to the president’s list.

Meade County area natives named to Bellarmine University dean’s list

Bellarmine University has named 543 full-time students to its dean’s list for the fall 2006 semester. The dean’s list recognizes students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or better on a four-point grading system.

Meade County was well represented Jan. 12 and 13 by Miss Meade County Fair 2006 Lindsey Roberts as she appeared in the Miss Kentucky County Fair Pageant at the Galt House in Louisville.

Alpha delta enjoys winter social

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is an international honor society of over 150,000 key women educators in 14 countries. Our local chapter, Alpha Delta, has a current memberbship of 51 educators. Alpha Delta is a diverse group consisting of elementary and secondary classroom teachers, library/media specialists, counselors, school administrators, curriculum specialists, preschool and special education specialists, school-to-work coordinator, a district administrator and one honorary member.

Garrett Homemakers meet at Doe Run Inn

The historical Doe Run Inn is where the Garrett Homemakers Club held their first meeting of 2007. Ten members attended, as did a special guest, De’Borah Winston, Meade County Extension agent-at-large for family and consumer sciences.
