FRONT PAGE NEWS Split Court decides fate of ordinance enforcement officer If ordinance enforcement officer Hank Schaffner continues to carry a weapon, he’ll be out of a job. That was the result of a 4-3 vote Dec. 18 by members of the Meade County Fiscal Court at their final 2007 meeting. Fire committee starts bid review process for new station Fire Chief Larry Naser and board members Martin Bosemer and John Abadie have been busy. The three have been working independently to sift through eight bids received for a new fire station, to be erected off Armory Place Road. Meade County Messenger Year in Review - 2007 JANUARY The Meade County Fair event was named the National Tractor Pullers Association (NTPA) Grand National Pull of the Year. The pullers vote for this award, and they were impressed by the crowd size and the hospitality shown the pullers at the pit house and throughout the fairgrounds. FEBRUARY The family of Kayla N. Wilkins is searching for her and is offering a $1,000 reward for her safe return. The 17-year-old has been missing since Jan. 18.
