Huntin’ the Beast Outdoor Expo

The Meade County Fairgrounds was transformed into a hunter’s/fisherman’s (and woman’s) paradise April 11, during the first-of-its-kind “Huntin’ the Beast” Outdoor Expo.

The event was organized by Chris Stallings, Breckinridge County, Bud Edens, Guston, and Ron Crawley, Hart County. It included more than 50 exhibitors from several states selling everything from turkey calls for a few dollars, to boats costing thousands of dollars. Everything needed to bring in the “Big One,” whether it be a buck, a bird, or a bass.

“I looked at what I like and tried to incorporate that into the show,” explained Stallings.

Crawford was one of about 30 participants in an indoor Easter egg hunt at the Armory Place Road site. Due to the April 10 hail and rain showers, the hunt was moved indoors to prevent mud from being tracked into the station.

Federal congressional delegation to receive Riverport funding request

An earmark is a request, usually initiated by a legislator, for a specific district project. It is tacked onto a budget bill, or related document, near the end of the budget discussions.
