As Ukrainian drones strike Russian oil refineries and terminals, Moscow targets power plants and substations. President Zelensky of Ukraine now offers a partial ceasefire to Russia.

In a recent development, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has extended an olive branch to Russia by proposing a partial ceasefire aimed specifically at energy installations. This initiative was communicated through U.S. mediators, suggesting a reciprocal halt to attacks on such critical infrastructure.

This proposal comes amidst a backdrop where Ukraine previously sought a ceasefire around the time of Orthodox Easter, celebrated on April 12 in both Russia and Ukraine. However, the Kremlin reported that it had not received any “clearly formulated” proposals at that time.

Millions Suffer as Infrastructure is Targeted

The ongoing conflict, now in its fourth year, has seen relentless Russian assaults on Ukrainian power facilities using missiles and combat drones, severely disrupting electricity and heating for millions of civilians.

In retaliation, the Ukrainian military has increasingly utilized drones to successfully target Russian refineries and port facilities, significantly impacting Russia’s oil export capabilities, according to media reports.
