October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

Dogs are one of the most beloved animal companions in the world, thus the age-old adage that a “dog is man’s best friend”. According to the American Pet Products Association, over 60 million households own a dog, which comes to nearly 90 million dogs. However, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), only 1.6 million dogs are adopted from shelters annually.
