Exploring Apple’s Latest Innovation: AirPods Pro 3

Apple’s innovation train hasn’t halted, particularly when it comes to their famed AirPods Pro line. The third iteration of these popular earbuds, the AirPods Pro 3, showcases several enhancements that solidify their status as a top choice for iPhone users.

Design and Comfort: A Snug, Yet Comfy Fit

With a slight tweak to their form, the new AirPods Pro 3 are now a better fit for most ear types, weighing around 6 grams each. This change not only enhances comfort but ensures a more secure fit, something that users will appreciate during extended wear. Moreover, the AirPods Pro 3 and their charging case are now certified with an IP57 rating, making them both dust and waterproof—a significant upgrade from the previous IPX4 rating.

Heart Rate Monitoring and Sports Use

For fitness enthusiasts, the AirPods Pro 3 are more than just music deliverers. They now come equipped with a heart rate monitor, tested to offer precise readings comparable to those of a Pixel Watch. This feature, combined with their secure fit and increased durability, makes them an excellent option for athletes.

Enhanced Audio Experience

The latest AirPods Pro 3 have seen substantial improvements in sound quality. Apple has dialed up the bass, providing more depth and presence without overwhelming the crisp mids. The highs are also more pronounced, showcasing detailed sounds that make any music genre more enjoyable. This refined sound profile is likely aided by an improved adaptive equalizer that adjusts audio based on the ear’s shape and the earbuds’ fit.

Noise Cancellation and Voice Clarity During Calls

Noise cancellation technology in the AirPods Pro 3 has been enhanced to a level where daily nuisances like traffic noise and office chatter are effectively muted. Apple has seemingly perfected the filtering of higher frequencies, making these earbuds a strong competitor to Bose’s QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds 2. Moreover, voice isolation on calls has improved, ensuring clearer communication.

A Variety of Ear Tips

Apple now provides an additional size for their silicone tips—XXS—catering to users with smaller ear canals. These new tips, which are not compatible with earlier models, also feature foam for better passive noise isolation.

Missing Features and Potential Future Updates

Despite these numerous enhancements, one notable absence in the EU market is the real-time translation feature, which remains unavailable due to regulatory hurdles. However, there’s hope that Apple might overcome these obstacles to bring this innovative feature to European users soon.

Battery Life: More Power, More Music

Battery performance has also seen a boost. The AirPods Pro 3 offer up to eight hours of playback with active noise cancellation—two hours more than their predecessors. With the charging case, the earbuds can last around 24 hours. A quick five-minute charge returns about an hour of playback, ensuring users spend less time tethered to a charging cable.

A Closer Look at Market Positioning and Price

Priced at approximately 250 euros, the AirPods Pro 3 are not cheap, but they offer a range of enhancements that justify the cost, especially given their predecessors debuted at 30 euros more. While these earbuds represent an appealing package for iPhone users, Android users might find the lack of a corresponding app a significant drawback, suggesting they might want to explore other options.
