Celebrating Achievements and Anticipating Success
As the lights shone brightly at the 41st Film Independent Spirit Awards, the cast of "Deli Boys" had more than one reason to be excited. Asif Ali and Poorna Jagannathan, prominent figures from the show, were in the spotlight for their nominations. Ali was up for Best Breakthrough Performance while Jagannathan was recognized in the Best Supporting Performance category. Their co-star, Saagar Shaikh, also graced the event, sharing in the celebratory atmosphere. The trio took a moment for a relaxing Coffee Break with IndieWire and Lavazza, reflecting on their experiences and the journey ahead.
The Evolution from Season 1 to Season 2
Hulu’s decision to renew "Deli Boys" for a second season brought a different kind of thrill to the cast compared to the initial season. Ali shared his thoughts, noting the transition from the uncertainty of a pilot to the eager anticipation of returning to a familiar environment. "The first time was about exploring what it could be, filled with anticipation. The second time, it’s about the excitement to return, to dive back into this world we’ve all come to love," he explained.
Shaikh echoed this sentiment, recalling how the initial nerves of meeting new colleagues had transformed into the joy of reuniting with friends. "Our very first day on the set for Season 1, we were all strangers. Fast forward to Season 2, and it’s like coming back to family," he remarked.
Jagannathan expressed a deep connection to the set, describing it as her ‘home’ despite being involved in multiple projects during the filming of Season 2. "No matter where I was, I kept thinking about returning to the ‘Deli Boys’ set. That’s where I felt at home," she shared, highlighting the strong bond formed with her co-stars and the project.
A Glimpse into Lavazza’s Legacy
The event also provided an opportunity to spotlight Lavazza, a sponsor of the Coffee Break. Founded in 1895 and still family-operated after four generations, Lavazza stands as a testament to enduring brand success in the competitive coffee industry. Operating across 140 markets with nine manufacturing plants in five countries, Lavazza prides itself on its commitment to quality coffee, crafting over 30 billion cups annually. This dedication ensures that whether it is a simple morning routine or a special gathering, coffee lovers everywhere receive the best the brand has to offer.
As the cast of "Deli Boys" continues to celebrate their current achievements and look forward to new adventures, their stories remind us of the importance of passion, whether in creating compelling television or crafting the perfect cup of coffee.
