German Chancellor Friedrich Merz highlighted the unity among European nations during the summit. With the changing dynamics on the battlefield favoring Kyiv, Merz sees a “window for diplomacy” in the Ukraine conflict. “Despite Russia’s recent attacks, the dynamics have shifted significantly in Ukraine’s favor,” Merz stated, just before the summit commenced.
