A suspect has been apprehended in connection with the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a prominent right-wing podcaster and activist in the United States. President Donald Trump confirmed the arrest during an interview with Fox News, stating, “I believe we got him.” The suspect, reportedly a 22-year-old from Utah, is now in police custody.

Charlie Kirk, aged 31, was a well-known figure in conservative circles, with a considerable following on social media and through his podcast, “The Charlie Kirk Show.” He was also the founder of Turning Point USA, an organization active in schools and universities promoting conservative ideals.

The attack occurred at a university event in Utah, where Kirk was fatally shot in the neck from a distance of about 180 meters. The FBI described the incident as a targeted attack. The shooter allegedly fired from a rooftop, then jumped down and vanished into the crowd.

Investigation Unfolds

Shortly after the tragic event, the FBI managed to secure a handprint at the crime scene and soon discovered what they believe to be the murder weapon—a high-performance repeating rifle commonly used in hunting or as a sniper rifle in the military.

Authorities quickly released photos and a video of a suspect, whose identity was initially withheld. They also offered a $100,000 reward—approximately 85,000 euros—for information leading to the suspect’s capture. Over 7,000 tips were received by the investigators.

The Aftermath and Unclear Motives

Following Kirk’s death, President Trump ordered flags to be flown at half-staff and indicated plans to attend the funeral. The body of the deceased was transported to Arizona in the presence of Vice President JD Vance and his wife.

The motives behind Kirk’s assassination remain unclear, and while no political motive has been proven, President Trump quickly blamed the political left for the incident.
