Three Americans were killed in an attack in Palmyra, Syria, with three more wounded. President Trump has blamed ISIS for the attack and vowed retaliation.
Following the deadly assault in Syria that resulted in the death of three Americans, President Trump has promised a forceful retaliation against ISIS. “We will strike back,” Trump stated in response to a journalist’s question regarding actions against ISIS. He further elaborated on his platform, Truth Social, that the retaliation would be severe.
Trump clarified that he does not hold the Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Scharaa responsible. “This was an ISIS attack against both the USA and Syria, in a very dangerous part of Syria,” Trump posted.

According to the Pentagon, two soldiers and one U.S. interpreter were killed during the attack in Palmyra, and three soldiers were injured. The soldiers’ mission was to support ongoing operations against ISIS and terrorism in the region.
The Central Command of the U.S. military (Centcom) reported the attacker acted alone. The Syrian government has identified the assailant as a member of its security forces, who is currently under investigation for harboring Islamist beliefs.
