Despite the shadow of war, Ukraine marked its 35th Independence Day with subdued yet significant observances, minus the usual large-scale public festivities. Instead, a series of smaller, localized events and a gala concert in the opera house of Kyiv were the day’s highlights, reflecting a nation’s indomitable spirit under siege.

On this poignant day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj released a 21-minute video address, reaffirming the nation’s unity and resilience against the ongoing Russian aggression. He emphasized the unyielding spirit of the Ukrainian people, stating, “It’s a national holiday that feels different because of the war.
